The deteriorating condition of the Vashi pump house and the holding pond in Sector 8 had raised concerns of waterlogging. Former Minister & Airoli MLA Ganesh Naik, along BJP Navi Mumbai President Sandeep Naik had actively engaged in meetings and discussions with NMMC, highlighting the urgency of the situation and demanding repairs and solutions to prevent potential disasters.   Ganesh Naik's efforts eventually led to concrete actions, including a site visit, installation of a diesel generator to prevent waterlogging, and the allocation of funds for the repair of both the Vashi and Belapur pumping stations. Courtesy Ganesh Naik and his rigorous follow-ups since 2020, both the pumping stations have received approval at a cost of Rs. 71.84 crores. Speaking to The Metro, eminent social activist Rohitt Malhotra, who was one of the voices to raise this issue, said that Ganesh Naik was the one who initiated the demand for the immediate repair of the pumping stations. 6. Social worker and lawyer Anshuvardhan expressed gratitude towards Ganesh Naik and said that the decision will finally bring relief to the residents.
