While the NMMC’s General Body meeting has been dissolved, all development proposals of the city are being directly handled and approved by the administrator, in this case NMMC Commissioner Abhijit Bangar. Unfortunately, this hasn't worked in favor of Navi Mumbaikars as NMMC has been proposing several plans which include the destruction of thousands of trees. 1. Protesting against this, under the leadership of Former Minister & Airoli MLA Ganesh Naik, BJP Navi Mumbai will be holding a protest against NMMC on World Environment Day. 2. Ganesh Naik has strongly condemned the nature-destructive proposals of NMMC which include Kopri-Arenja corner Rs 350 crore bridge which will destroy 390 trees and converting service road into plots for commercial sale in MIDC which will destroy nearly 2500 trees. 3. NMMC had already destroyed nearly 700 trees next to NRI complex, Seawoods and sold the plot to a private developer.
