Maha Budget Session: Ganesh Naik demands Digha homes built prior to 2015 must not be demolished

Airoli's first MLA Sandeep Naik during his tenure had always taken up the issue of Digha homes; that are illegal as they were built and sold to people without needed permissions. He had demanded a considerate approach to the issue as many people who bought these homes would stand the risk of losing their only homes. A recent High Court order might just demolish these illegal buildings within the next week. Raising the issue during the on going budget session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, former Minister & Airoli MLA Ganesh Naik said that the state government had passed a resolution in 2018. In a the resolution; in a bid to tackle the problem of lakhs of unauthorised structures, the Maharashtra government has proposed changes in the method of calculating penalties to regularise illegal residential buildings before December 31, 2015. Ganesh Naik demanded that the state government bring this to the attention of the Bombay High Court so that the action of demolition of such homes at Digha can be stopped immediately and their homes can be regularised.
