Maha Monsoon Session: Ganesh Naik assures strict action against illegal mangrove destruction and encroachments
During the ongoing 2025 Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature, Forest Minister Ganesh Naik addressed the concerns raised by Guhagar MLA Shri Bhaskarrao Jadhav regarding the illegal destruction of mangroves.
Ganesh Naik acknowledged the serious issue brought to light, stating that despite High Court directives, mangroves have been cleared and unauthorized constructions have taken place, with some still ongoing.
He assured the House that strict action will be initiated against any officials found guilty of negligence. Furthermore, all ongoing illegal constructions at these mangrove sites will be immediately halted to ensure strict compliance with environmental laws and court directives.
