Maha Monsoon Session: Ganesh Naik speaks on withdrawal of Tree Cutting Amendment Bill – fresh draft to follow expert consultation

During the Monsoon Session of the Maharashtra Legislature, a demand was raised to withdraw the pending Maharashtra Tree Cutting (Regulation) Amendment Notification, 2024 under the Government Bills category.

Forest Minister Ganesh Naik clarified that the withdrawal is not intended to grant any special concessions. A revised version of the bill will be presented only after approval from the state cabinet. Upcoming developments will be laid before the Cabinet, and the new legislation—covering both rural and urban areas—will be formulated based on detailed discussions and expert recommendations. The withdrawal is sought solely to avoid temporary legal ambiguity.
